Each year, at this time, when days are getting shorter, and nights longer, Merano opens the doors of its traditional Christmas market.
Romantic cabins grace Merano's promenade and has a lot to offer: home-made christmas cookies, hand-carved statues, christmas-decorations, warm felt-slippers and much more..
And while the adults have lots to admire, the little ones can watch hilarious puppet theatres and embark on a trip with beloved Christmas train!

Different ski-regions in the area of Burgraviato, Val Senales and Val d'Ultimo offer perfectly prepared ski- and cross-country ski-slopes!

Schwemmalm - Val d'Ultimo..
Lifts taking you up to 2,600 m and a breathtaking view of the surrounding 3,000 m high mountains - this is what is waiting for you at the ski area of Schwemmalm. Carefully-groomed ski runs bring you down to the valley or to one of the idyllic mountain huts. Three ski lifts and a smaller one for beginners take you to 18 km of runs and slopes. Obviously there is also a toboggan run, an ice rink and a curling sheet. Beginners might ask for the local ski school and the kids are taken care of at the “Bärenhöhle” ski kindergarten.
For all those travelling without car there is a bus connecting Merano with San Pancrazio, from where a free ski bus departs towards the ski area Schwemmalm. A ski rental service is also provided.
Merano 2000
Lots of sun, snow and winter fun at 1670-2300 m High above the city of Merano towers the sunny ski area Merano 2000, featuring a total of 8 ski lifts and 40 km of ski runs and slopes.
Here you find something for everyone. There is for instance a 3.8 km long toboggan run, where you can go for hilarious night-time rides on Fridays. Skiers and snowboarders can look forward to carefully-groomed ski runs, ideally-suited to beginners and professionals alike. While kids and greenhorns may take advantage of the lower-altitude runs, the more experienced ones might head for the rather challenging ones at higher altitudes. A 5 km long cross-country run is found near to the base station and those interested in ski touring can look forward to a breath-taking panoramic view. Not to forget Italy's longest mountain roller coaster. And in case you haven't brought your skis, just ask for the local rental service!
Monte San Viglilio (1500 - 1800m)
A dreamy Ski-and hiking region, which thanks to the cableway is really easy to reach from Lana. Surrounded by untouched nature you'll find 5 km of perfectly prepared skipists which will make your holiday an unforgettable experience.
Moreover, Monte San Vigilio, also known as Lanas local mount a toboggan run, 2 skilifts, one cross-skiing slope and the "Schwarze Lacke", on which you can ice-skate. Curling and romantic carriage rides complete the offer.
